HAINTOLOGY

V. interesting unintentional (?) typo from Simon Reynolds:

"Haintalogical".

Haintology: Now, that I can work with.

Round our way - in the deep, dark limbostreets and murky slurry-filled autumncopses of S. Somerset - "Hain't" is local.vocal shorthand for "It ain't".

As in: "Hain't wot you fink it is."

Haintology it is, then.

I'm definitely liking this, but I'm having a hard time imagining what Haintalogical sounds like (which might be a good thing). It does lead to a further typo into Hentaialogical, which I guess would be really spooky J-Pop, so maybe there's a middle ground there?

Word verification: felychs. I have no idea what that means, but it sounds *disgusting*.

Hentaialogical is already out there isn't it? Merzbow's Music For Bondage Performance etc...

I thought H'aint was a seafaring term for some reason....

But by far the best mention, after just a cursory swathe of the interweb was this:

http://www.joyward.net/

Joy Ward's HAINT, a sci-fi novel of dog/human symbiosis and survival in a post apocalyptic world...

"If you loved Watership Down and Black Beauty, Haint is YOUR dog story! Haint is for people who want stories that reflect the inner lives of real dogs and the people who love them."

word verifcation: Chympa... which makes me think of the Island of Dr Moreau, for some reason...

Haint could be another form of tape-erasure-music. "H'aint," in the sense of denial and negation. Dub reduced to residual EVP.

Word verification: plesho

Surely Haintological is that which gauzily alludes to some half-hidden profundity which may or may not only exist to sell articles about unimaginative records?

Actually, to clarify, Haintology seeks to be classed as Hauntological, but ain't, or something.

Dang! Been missing all the fun yesterday (was up to my balls in work).

DB first:

"Hentaialogical" does indeed sound like something involving squid tentacles and young girls lol.

"felychs" = "felch" yeah? hence yr unease, probably.
