Agreed: 'twas a classic and innovative era for Pop; one that parallelled and ultimately dovetailed into the Post-Punk stream, until the two became one, the Corporations got their shit together, absorbed all the good stuff, etc... by the mid-80's it was all over bar the shouting, but us smart ones had gone somewhere else by then, anyway...
That is just fucking UNCANNY. I was in the car just a few days ago trying to explain to Mrs Zero who Eruption were & singing 'One Way Ticket' to her. Along with 'Dr Kiss Kiss' by 5,000 Volts. A great time in music that, as you rightly say, melted into corporate Americana shit.
