SPEND THE AFTERNOON WITH SUNBURNED
Just surfacing from checking-out and re-customising my noise-generating gear to broadcast a last minute reminder about this show, which takes place on The Thekla (which is an old ship moored in Bristol Harbour) as part of the Venn Festival, this coming sunday afternoon (8th June) between 3 and 6pm:
'SPEND THE AFTERNOON WITH SUNBURNED' with THE MICHAEL FLOWER BAND + ICE BIRD SPIRAL + SUNBURNED SIDE PROJECTS
"This band of brothers/sisters follows no rules. This very afternoon, they are launching into new projects, solo shows and bringing in special guests. We know there will be ecstatic rock, wild drone and electronics. The performances could also involve The Drifter, theatre, comedy, The Clear People, films and action painting. They do their own thing so well, Venn has given them the boat. Highly recommended."
If you've never seen The Clear People, wh/ is John and Rob's bonkers Musique Concrete project (which I once described as "Stockhausen hosting a chimp's tea-party), then, people, you ain't never breathed...and The Drifter, well...and Mick Flower from Vibracathedral Orchestra....wow...
The evening sees things going completely bonkers, with shows going on into the small hours from:
Flying Lotus (8PM)
The Heliocentrics (9PM)
Sunburned Hand Of The Man (11PM)
Plus Evil Kitty DJ's
Sunburned's late-nite set should be something to behold, whether you caught them at the Croft last Nov or not:
"Raw freak out. Playing Venn In FULL band mode and special unit sets. This set of maverick music makers unleash a vast sound - from short and sweet sonic assaults to crazed funk jams and sprawling half-hour rockers. Like a wild jungle river, you never know what is round the bend. The real deal."
There'll also be stuff going on, in parallel, at The Arnofini...
Tickets from Venn and all over the place. See ya there!
