Well, good golly gosh: if it ticks all those boxes then it must be a podcast by, er, me.
I was chuffed as anyfink when FACT recently asked me to pick n play five recent faves and chat about them, and thus it came to be. It's partially a sort of aural suppliment to my regular on-line column (second installment currently being finished off and typed up) Recorded in the microscopic Garage Universe that I call 1973 and assembled by my producer, the mighty Tim Reeves, who I hereby thank for his efforts and for making me sound slightly less of a dork than normal. Tim's a total geezer who once had his birth certificate signed by Damo Suzuki. He also told me a great story about meeting Todd Rungren in Bristol city-centre.
For those of you curious enuff to hear it, the podcast is accessible thru the main FACT site under 05/03/08, tho it'll probably descend into the archives in a few days. Or it can also be reached thru their MySpace site. You can also download it here.
The series continues soon, with hopefully Kiran Sande and Simon Reynolds stepping up to the plate next - both of whom'll have a far better idea of what they're doing than I did lol.
Still, I must confess that this is something that I've fancied doing for a while now and it was great fun putting it together. I did have a pirate radio show in Yeovil some years ago lol, but I generally tried to avoid talking whenever possible. FACT even kindly let me keep the intro-tune from my old show, which has become a bit of theme-tune for me now. It'll prob. get played at my funeral.
I've now got "non-broadcaster" on my CV along with "non-musician", "non-artist", "non-writer", "non-filmmaker", "non-DJ", etc lol.
It's def. something I'd be up for doing again at some point, so if there's anyone out there who wants to hire an enthusiastic amateur...
Anyway, hope you enjoy it.
