MURALES DE JOSE CHAVEZ MORADO

Okay, so maybe I've led a sheltered life under the umbrella trees of South Somerset, but I'd never heard of Jose Chavez Morado 'til I found this booklet on a recent book forage (for 50p!). This appears to be a Spanish-language 1974 Mexican Tourist Board pamphlet showcasing his mural work, and it's rather wonderful too, kinda Brut-ish yet angular and displaying all the assorted elements of ontological hysteria that I dig in Art n Music:

Been scrabbling around lookin' fer other bits n pieces by him:

Check this:

"July 1, 1936. And the Cowardly Dwarf and Murderous Perpetrator of the Massacre Fled from Yucat√°n. United Front of Taxi Drivers" - How genius is that!

"The Charlatan" is pretty cool too.

Dude!
