Wow. Possibly the best Boney M song ever - good find.

That and Daddy Cool have always been my favourites. I found a 7" of that one a few years back for
13p....

13p: what a weird price. What was that all about?

You won't get much for 13p now - maybe a couple of hours with Jodie Marsh.

It's a shame that Politically Aware Disco never really took off as a sub-genre. It had such potential.

"a couple of hours with Jodie Marsh." - LOL...nah, a couple of nights lol

I love the fact that the lyrics are such gibberish - it's like Surrealist automation or Burroughs-esque cut-ups...

"It's a shame that Politically Aware Disco never really took off as a sub-genre" - the Human League did "The Lebanon"...but it lacks the barely controlled ontological hysteria of Boney M's "Belfast" tho it was from an album called "Hysteria"...

It's pretty profound too:

"And who will have won
When the soldiers have gone
From the lebanon
The lebanon"

Uses that well know technique of repeating a word or phrase so that it then sounds, er, 'deeper'...

Strangely, or perhaps not, both songs have themes of 'leaving' ("Dreams of Leaving" lol)...
