From my archives, Cliff and the Shads on "Thunderbirds":

(Puppet Cliff looks longingly at Puppeteer Mary Turner)

(The boys rock out! The Hank Marvin puppet is eerily accurate, don't you think? A couple years later the Bruce Welch puppet ran off w/ an Olivia Newton-John doll.)

Thanks again to Circle Brophy for this one (I faintly remember seeing this episode as a child back in the 60s). The accompanying article says: "In real life, Cliff, Hank, Bruce, Brian and John move about the stage with professional timing and rhythm. These movements had to be studied and learned by the puppeteers so that the puppets they held eight feet below them acted and danced, stood and played, in the same manner as the popular stars they portrayed."

By coincidence, I'm thinking about making a puppet series based on the real-life adventures of The Incredible Bongo Band.
