lush links, Kek. tape looping is a valuable skill that the kids today are missing out on. my first instrument was the cassette tape.

Nice one - I actually have one of the last ones you show there - the multi-head vari-speed version - think you have just pushed me into draggin it down from the loft and plugging it in !

Yeah, I've got a Copy-cat too (guess that makes me a copy-cat!)...but not sorted out new camera yet, so can't post a picture...

Yeah, Nick...a hitachi cassette recorder was my first 'musical' instrument too...pause-button edits...leant how to vari-speed it; make cassette loops, reverse the tape....bah! sampling's for sissies!

I used to spend hours as a kid making these jump-cut split-second tape compilations, threading together snippets of songs from my big sister's records to construct narratives.
