DRY YER EYES...

Sob...! So Mike Skinner's slice of Post-UKG verite is the biggest selling tune in the country this week. Or is it? Heh. I wouldn't be so sure...
We now find ourselves increasingly in an on-going Earth1/Earth2 type situation where our entire Reality (ie the Pop Charts) is being mirror'd by a dark, digitised doppelganger of itself. Earth2 is a universe that, on the surface, looks exactly like our own, yet is populated entirely by young people whose culture is a twisted and distorted version of every thing that we hold dear. Perhaps younger analogues of ourselves inhabit this place...squads of bloggers whose worldview/asthetics/fashion-sense are similar-yet-strangely-different to ours...kids who use customised dictaphones and antique-looking handheld scanners to record their innermost thoughts and post them on Hemi-Sentient SmartStreams, self-evolving softforms that roam the Infobahn like hexadecimal spiders, spinning webs of mulitlayered meta-meaning from discarded Pop Trivia...
Still, look on the bright side, eh? O-zone went back up one place to Number 8. In our world, that is. Not theirs.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER CRAP FREE CD

Oh, shit. This one's got Weller on it. Should've checked the cover before I nicked it.
